Why iPhone 4 is still playing catch up to Android

Since the World Wide Developers Conference, the iPhone has been given new life and it’s being called the iPhone 4. It is said that when Apple does something, they do it well. Lets get one thing straight; this article is not meant to take away from anyone who plans to get the iPhone 4, but someone has to point out the phone’s flaws. After all, Jobs would never do such a thing. So how can such a fantastic device still crumble to Android? Its all about the limitations; Apples largest issue.

Thinking about getting a Pre or Pixi? Hows the price of FREE sound?

Now this is a deal you should think about taking. HP and Palm have teamed up to offer all WebOS phones on every carrier for free! Whether your upgrading, adding a line, or getting a new line on AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon it does not matter! I do wish I qualified for an upgrade because WebOS is still the only OS I have not played with or owned and the only thing I here about it is good things. Especially with WebOS 2.0 features announced earlier this week, I am sure they will get it on both phones as soon as they can. If your on the fence about WebOS, this should sweeten the deal. Remember it ends midnight Thursday so don’t wait too long!

10.1″ Android (Froyo) Tablet Announced by Toshiba

It seems to be the cool thing to do these days, developing Android based tablets to challenge Apple’s ipad. Toshiba today announced their “Toshiba Folio 100″ Android Tablet (priced at approximately $540 for the Wifi only model). Between the two devices I would probably still pick up the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but a 10.1″ display does sound nice. I had read a few reports that the Samsung would be sort of locked to 3g, requiring it even in the presence of wifi for data to function properly, though I now believe that to be false. So assuming the Samsung Galaxy Tab is “wifi only” capable then I suppose this doesn’t beat it spec for spec, although the 10.1″ display is a big selling point to me.  Read more of this post

T-Mobile G2 will have Android 2.2 and only 800Mhz processor

T-Mobile keeps giving out piece by piece information on the G2 and today they have revealed a few specs about the device. When you purchase the G2 it will be running Android 2.2 vanilla (as seen by the pic, no Sense) and be Flash 10.1 ready. Another tidbit is that the device has a 800MHz processor inside, down from other Android devices running 1Ghz and upwards. I have seen disappointment all over about this but we should not give up hope, maybe the G2 will be optimized to use all of the processing power, but still makes you wonder why they chose to go with it. Pricing and availability is still up in the air but we can an expect an announcement soon I’m sure.

Windows Phone 7 heads-up browser Battle with Nexus One, iPhone 4

In what is an impressive first appearance and noted – not the final software build of Windows Phone 7 test of the browsers between all three phones. All three load pages at roughly the same speed (Flash was turned off on Froyo to avoid lag) and it is interesting to note that the iPhone 4 frequently has to display checkerboard patterns while trying to catch up with scrolling. Check out the video below.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab revealed, on paper it bests the iPad in almost every way

Today is the launch of, well lets be honest, the iPad’s first real competitor. The Samsung Galaxy Tab was unveiled today in Berlin Germany and there is a lot to like about this device. In fact, there is so much to like about the device I went with the semi-controversial title stating that the Galaxy Tab is in fact better than the iPad. Well that is on paper at least. So what does this thing come with? Read on after the break for the full spec list… Read more of this post

webOS 2.0 developer features shown off, includes: Stacks, Just Type, Exhibition, and more

Yesterday Palm released a beta SDK of webOS 2.0 and man does it already look exciting. They gave us a look at some of the new features for webOS that are meant for the developers. Yeah, these features aren’t even front facing to consumers. However, the features are already pretty damn exciting for the end user. We’ll briefly go over what each of the 6 new features do. Hannspree Tablet: Yet another Android tablet hits the market this November

Ever heard of Hannspree? Don’t worry neither has a majority of the world; they are makers of fine LCD TV’s, laptops and digital photo frames. Although it seems as though the company is moving in the already-crowded tablet market, thanks to the power of Android to cultivate innovation (or at least copy it). The new Hannspree Tablet is going to sport a 10 inch display, ARM® A9 Cortex Dual-Core 1 GHZ Processor, 16GB of internal flash memory, running Google Android 2.2 Froyo, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, a USB port, microSD card slot, 3500mAh battery, runs 1080p HD video playback thanks to the NVIDIA chipset and is expected to be priced around 399 Euros in Europe around November, which is about $500 US. There is no set release date for the U.S.A. but we expect it to make it stateside just in time for Christmas.

HP hires former HTC exec to head up Palm handset sales

It appears HP had done some early pre-planning of their road-map with the Palm acquisition. About three weeks before HP picked up Palm for $1.2 billion in April, the company recruited Todd Achilles as its vice presdient of telco sales. Todd who? Todd Achilles, the former HTC exec that ran the United States office of HTC in Bellevue, Washington. Prior to that, Todd was also the executive director at T-Mobile USA, working on the company’s handset strategy. We hope that Mr. Achilles will bring his sales and direction know-how, coupled with HP’s brilliant manufacturing prowess and build one fine webOS mobile handset.
