Google Voice On Android, Blackberry, Palm Pre & Now Coming (back) To Apple

Oh Apple, how cloak-and-dagger are thee? This may have had something with AT&T’s doing, but we’ll never really know for sure. But what we do know now is that the Palm Pre, Blackberry and Android OS’ all have Google Voice. We also know that the FCC is now probing the blockage of the Google Voice app, although they should be looking into both Apple and AT&T. Why you ask, well in reference to a N.Y. Times article, it is pointed out that AT&T revenue would take a huge wallop if those free text messages and cheap international calls starting happening on Google’s app instead. Yet neither company has made a solid public response as to why they rejected the application.
So as the article in the Times reports, “Google says it is readying a replacement for the Google Voice app that will offer exactly the same features as the rejected app—except that it will take the form of a specialized, iPhone-shaped Web page. For all intents and purposes, it will behave exactly the same as the app would have; you can even install it as an icon on your Home screen.”
Guess that leaves Apple and AT&T sitting around wondering how they are going to block this new Google app. A funny thing about cloud computing, you just can’t stop evolutions of software.
