Layar Augmented Reality On Android; Now Coming To iPhone

This has got to blow a lot of people’s minds but if you think about a movie not long ago called “Minority Report” and you’ll remember when Tom Cruise had his eyes balls changed out to avoid the Pre-Cogs, he would walk into the Gap and they would say something like “Hi Mr. Nakamoto, how was that shirt you bought last week?” Well the reality of Augmented Reality is now here and coming to an iPhone near you. Get ready for your Pre-Crime units and point your phone in the direction of the police station, it will surely take you there so you can make an arrest!

Blockbuster + Motorola = ‘Movies For Moto’ Phones

blockbuster-moto

Blockbuster Inc. plans to offer movies that can be watched on Motorola made cell phones. This move is reflective of Blockbuster struggling retail rentals. Netflex has far outpaced Blockbuster’s attempt and being an online AND brick and mortar store. This is BB’s  first attempt into mobile video and is its latest effort at acquiring more customers that have abandoned its traditional retail video locations.

Blockbuster offered few details Tuesday on the plan and no mention on price for the new service.

Blockbuster’s attempts to locate more outlets for sales are obvious signs that the company is struggling and it’s management has no clue of what they are doing. I remember seeing the first RedBox at the grocery store and though to myself “Smart move Coinstar. Why isn’t Blockbuster doing this?”

Why? Because of incompetent management. Any Blockbuster executive that has ever walked into a grocery store and saw a Coinstar coin counting machine and was unable to put 2+2 together, should get the ‘pink’ slip tomorrow. I and many other people saw this business coming down the road. But now Blockbuster is going full fledged ahead with Motorola.

Good Luck!

Research In Motion Named Fastest Growing U.S. Company

rim

Considering that Blackberry is the most dominant force in the business cell phone market, it is no surprise when CNN/Fortune named RIM the fastest growing U.S. company. Averaging an EPS growth (earnings per share) combined with revenue growth (income) gave an ultimate total return of around 45 percent. The two Canadians guys who ran the company the last 17 years, Research in Motion co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis have formed a formidable alliance and are now headed to give Apple a run for the money.

Despite the sour economy, RIM’s fourth quarter revenues reported net income of $518.3 million, or 90 cents per share, on $3.46 billion in revenue. In 2009, RIM is expected to have cornered 20 percent of the market, with Apple right behind at 11 percent. And if some rumored devices like the new Bold, Storm 2 and ‘Magnum’ make a splash later this year, we can expect the revenue and market share to rise substantially.
