Looks like a Wi-Fi-supported model of the BlackBerry Tour on Sprint is coming soon.  It is believed that the next Version of the Blackberry Tour (due sometime in early 2010) will come with an optical trackpad instead of the trackball and will be WiFi equipped right out of the gate. The new Blackberry (Tour), standard with Wi-Fi and trackpad will be named the Essex.

Sprint Statement:

“Sprint is embracing WiFi in all its major devices going forward … It is now a requirement for all our PDA equipment suppliers to include WiFi,” Clemow said, pointing to the new Palm Pre, which sports WiFi, as evidence of the carrier’s new position. “Several quarters ago we made a conscious decision to require all of our PDA suppliers to support WiFi.”
