Not to be left out in the cold and more like setting the bar very high, T-Mobile has officially launched a price war with the three other major carriers Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. On Sunday October 25th, T-Mobile is launching it’s new Unlimited Plans. Starting at $59, $69 and $99 on contract with discounted (subsidized) handsets and $49, $59 and $79, off contract, regular priced handsets.

Sprint was the first of the three major U.S. carriers to start an unlimited plan and now T-Mobile joins the ranks by beating Sprint’s Simply everything plan with a $79 all you can eat plan that is $20 bucks cheaper than Sprint best. And with new handsets like the Blackberry Bold, Nokia N900 and Android handsets coming soon, what is the reason not to sign up with a no-contract pricing and get some pretty good coverage with the number one rated customer service carrier?

Ladies and Gentleman, the cell phone pricing wars have officially begun!

[...] Eighty frickin’ bucks. As a fellow iPhone owner I’m with Jesus on this one. Apple, please drop this exclusivity BS in the US. I completely understand that all cell phone companies are guilty of bending over their customers with overpriced text messages and fees and the like. I really do. I accept that. It’s just that I’d love to be bent over for less. [Fone Frenzy] [...]

What’s the deal with the smartphone unlimited data add-on? If you get the unlimited talk+text+web and you have a smartphone, do you still have to tack on smartphone unlimited data? If so, I call shenanigans on this whole deal.

  9. Benjamin Says:

Can someone explain how $140 a month for a basic family plan with unlimited web and texting and 750 minutes is a good deal?

For $10 less, Sprint offers the same thing but with 1500 minutes and any mobile anytime.

I fail to see how TMo is even close to that good of a deal. Looks pretty sucky to me. You only get a better rate if you pay full price for your phone. Who has the money to do that with smartphones?
