O2 to cuts cost of iPhone plans

O2 has announced  new plans which cut the costs of iPhone ownership. The two new plans include two sim only tariffs which are aimed at iPhone users who are near close to completing their existing 18 month contracts. The iPhone owners who are able to do without data are also presented with two new options, that’s if they forgo a subsidized device. And to round things off, O2 presented a mobile broadband plan which includes a whopping 1GB per month transfer on either 30 day or 18 month contracts. Also, O2 is now offering it’s tethering bolt on which allows you to tether your iPhone for the paltry amount of £2 per day.

T-Mobile branded Motorola Cliq XT (Zeppelin)

Click on image for full size

The guys over at Android Central got their hands on a Motorola Cliq XT which appears to have T-Mobile branding and is expected to hit the carrier sometime in mid March. The device is confirmed to have WiFi and sporting Android 1.6, which makes us a bit dissappointed.

A very slick feature of the device is the sides of the phone, on the outside of the trackpad, can pick up your touch as well (similar to the Palm Pre/Pixi gesture area). A tipster which gave the info to Android Central, stated that the function ends about a third of the way up the handset.

According to a post over at neowin, the Nexus one will be released on March 25th. It is believed that Verizon will officially announce the Nexus at CTIA in Las Vegas next month. Pricing should be within range of the current T-Mobile pricing for the Nexus, but it is unclear whether Google will handle the sales or would Verizon stock the phone directly.

WebOS 1.4 is supposed to be released this month. Palm stated at CES that 1.4 would be out in February and some of the more popular Pre fan sites think today is going to be the day. So much so that Precentral was able to snag the latest change log. A lot of the things we expected to come due to Palm’s announcements at CES are in the log, but there is also a bit of new. Flash support for the browser (Palm Pre only), Video capture, and the long awaited LED notification! So hopefully today is the day. We aren’t sure just yet if the update will be released on both Sprint WebOS phones and Verizon WebOS at the exact same time, but we do know if Palm can manage to pull it off it will certainly make a lot of people happy. As soon as the update comes out we will take it for a spin and show off some of the features on video so stay tuned. WebOS 1.4 leaked change log after the break… Read more of this post

The Lowdown on Palm’s webOS and why it will prevail

Oh Analysts, how smart are thee? All this week, I have watched Palm get bashed, left and right, from all sides of the financial and technical Intertubes. Let’s take David Coursey for example, a tech writer for some very notable e-zines and the champion of Palm’s doom and gloom (that’s before he was for Palm in 2006 before he was not for Palm today). But a little Google’ing of David and you too can find more information on David’s true love: Apple. Hearing David rant on about how Palm won’t prevail doesn’t matter much to Palm fans. You see, you have to actually use a product for a decent amount of time before you can condemn it to a fiery grave. Read more of this post
