Android blasts to 50,000 apps in short amount of time

Not long ago, Android was applications weren’t looking at explosive growth. Well yesterday, the a chart released by AndroidLib shows an entirely different story. The Android marketplace is on the heels of surpassing 50,000 apps, and the growth has been staggering. In comparison to Apple’s apps store, the Android Marketplace has almost double since April 6, 2010. That is an incredible feat considering that the Android OS had approximately 10,000 apps in September 2009. We can see the substantial growth in the marketplace and view this as a very important growth period for Android developers that are now bringing their iPhone applications to Android too. With the pace of growth so far, it is not hard to anticipate Android having 150,000 applications by August of this year.
